Hello everyone,

I knew that the rendering(renderfarm) of an animation with Backburner did not limit number of CPU…
Rendering satellite (distributed rendering with renderfarm) of the image by the cons seem to be limited by 16CPU (I think ...).
Do you know if it is possible to graft an extension of Mentalray in Max to use more CPU (it’s possible with Maya!)?
If that's possible, how many Mental ray standalone for my configuration:
5 bi-xeon Quad with HT, then 40 physical cores HT or 80...)

Attachments: A picture of my screen enclosure
PS1: the error come from this connection limit CPU because if I run the backburner manager, everything is connected! If I use the Backburner rendering for animation, everything works 100%, which confirms that the connection is good!

Thanks!

Hi Guys,

i had create a new Heuristic-Method (Sample Curve Technogoly) to optimize a hole 3D-Scene, because i think the 3dsmax Global Tunig Options are not good. Screen Shot´s of Parameter all in english. At the Renderstudy, you see as example the result of optimizing Reflection Sample with Shader Utilities Pro. Look at the links for Renderstudy and Tutorial:"the mental ray Workflow".

i hear everywhere every single 3d app claiming to have the new "in hype" feature: "interactive fotorreal rendering" even houdini and lightwave... but mainly 3d max with mental mill...

i dont know if i am missing something, but i wonder... what about maya?? (ipr is a jocke at this stage)

3d max has the best implementation with this new tecnology of mental mill and this hype stuff called meta sl... but... maya has been forgoten or what???

what i am missing from sigraph 2010? why i dont see this in stuff about interactive rendering and mental mill pipeline for maya??

i am starting to think that autodesk is favouring 3d max...

I am totally new to MR but have run into a strange problem that I cannot resolve.

I set up an interior render on my desktop, setting up MR sky, light portals, and exposure controls, as well as assigning a material override. It rendered at draft settings fine on the desktop so I saved and opened it on the laptop to do test renders while I continued to work on the scene on the desktop.

The issue is that the laptop is rendering it completely differently. It is almost totally white, burned out completely. I first thought it must not have updated the exposure settings on the laptop when I opened the file, but checking those, they are the same as the desktop.

I know it must be something obvious that I am overlooking, but I just simply don't know what else, besides the exposure settings might be causing such an issue.

The laptop and desktop are using the same version of 3dsmax (2010 from the same install disk) The only difference is the laptop is 64bit and desktop is 32. I have tried other scenes on both machines and they behave as expected.

I have also rebooted the cpus, and reset max. If anyone could tell me what obvious thing I am missing I would appreciate it.

EDIT:
Well no sooner had I made this post then I solved my own problem. There was garbage data in the final gather map file, deleting it and re-rendering solved the problem. I will have to remember to reset those files from now on when I run into trouble!
