Hi All,

This is a project that I have finished recently.

It took me about 5 days to model, texture/shaders and light it.

The image came straight from 3Ds Max using Mental Ray; no post work was needed.

As the deadline was tight (…the usual…) we (GMJ design ltd), had to find ways of quickly rendering the final image (5000x5000 pixels).

The scene consists of one mental ray daylight system and a number of objects (…not visible to camera, not casting or receiving shadows…), strategically placed to emulate real lights.

To ensure that the objects generated energy, we simply applied real photos to these objects, and increased their RGB levels to a point where most areas of the scene were well illuminated.

This technique had enabled us to quickly render the file with great ease (2hours).

I hope you like the final result.

Any comments would be welcome.

Regards,

Jamie

Loverly, gives a great feel for the space, well done

Are the splotches due to FG errors or compression?

ps say good day to Rob and Didier for me, Justin Hunt:)

Hi there again,

Bullseye: Thank you very much for the comments indeed. The Light objects are scattered across the scene in a variety of shapes. Please see the attached image. Thanks again

hoppergrass: Thanks for your comments; I appreciate it. The splotches are due to the compression, however I do have 3000x3000 pixels image, but I suppose I wouldn't be able to upload it. Sorry. Thanks again.

Hi Justin,

I have only realised that you had asked me to say hello to Didier and Rob for you...which I just did (...reluctantly...).
What are you doing these days?

Regards,

Jamie

for those object light did you use an output shader?? or just a high diffuse RGB value?
Nice render

Hi All again,

fco3d: Thanks for the comments. I had simply used high RGB Level values, under the output map parameters’ by the way, I had also pasted instanced these diffuse settings onto the additional color/self? illum. slot component, under the special purpose maps.

peengoh: Thanks for the comments also.

Regards,

Jamie

Strange technique, but very lifelike. The colors and spreads look very real. I'm not so fond of the camera angle, but that must be just me. Great stuff.

Hi there again,

Thank you very much for the comments nisus and PuMel.

The glow edge was achieved with the glare plug in for mental ray.

Thanks again,

Jamie
