View Full Version : Mental RAY RGB pixel errors

Hi, I've lighted a scene using Physical Sun and mia_materials but through my animation and sometimes during still renders I'm getting bright blue, red, and more commonly green splotches, that I just can't get rid of. (Not everywhere just at random points on different frames)
I don't have an example as the scenes at work but it's an exterior shot of a building so only FG is used (near default settings but higher accuracy) and no animation other than the camera.
Does anyone know of any solutions or workarounds or what even causes this problem? I might have to manually fix up 300 frames in PS...:(

Hmmm...no one knows?
Here's an example of what's happening

It's driving me crazy because I think I'll have to just paint out these 300 frames. I'm most certain this isn't the first time this problem has happened though, there must be a better solution!

Try to turn off interpolation in reflections, I think that it is some kind of bug, but I'm not sure.

Thanks for the help. It seems SreckoM is right!
I turned off the interpolation and it solved the problem. I find it weird that this would cause the errors though. 90% of my scene uses mia_material shaders (even the trees) and a lot of them have intoperlated reflections, yet this one shader was having these problems and playing up.
Quite a weird bug I think...and yes I'm using Maya 8.5 too, it would be interesting to see if this can be replicated again with a different scene - it would be good to know what causes this.
Thanks again guys!

Strange thing is that this is happened to me with Max9 too, but not with standalone version of MentalRay. So it will be really masterpiece to track this one. I think that it is send as bug-report to Autodesk.

Original max9? Get the production booster update! These things should be fixed in that version.

Also had this problem - mia shaders with interpolated reflections. But, the artefacts would only appear every 100 frames so I could easily fix them in PS.

This bug was fixed I think in the production booster.
So I'd be interested in finding out what version of Max you are using ?
cheers

Well I do not have production booster installed, I think, I'm Maya user but I had some jobs for company that is using Max, and I really do not know if they had installed production booster. Will see. Does anyone know if this is corrected with Maya SP1?
