View Full Version : No moblur of particle rotation?

I've noticed for some time that Mental Ray in Max doesn't seem to respect rotation of particles when rendering motion blur. This occurs with Thinking Particles, PFlow and Max standard particles. It occurs no matter if you use instance geometry or built in particle types. Scanline (Object, Image mb) and Vray seem to not have this problem.

Can anyone confirm if this occurs with Maya MR and XSI too? To recreate, simply create a particle system with only a single particle...make it a cube and spin it in place. Render that with MR using motion blur and see what you get.

I think this has to do with the way Max translates the scene data to MR, and not really a problem with the particle systems.

I don't know of a fix.

Appears that Maya and XSI do NOT have this problem, so I'm guessing it's something wrong with the Max to MR bridge.
