Absolutely great! I really like the over all color and contrast. The scale and camera feel very real.
My only crit is that your couches and rug seem to have a reflection pass on them.

Nice job.

Yes, a bit too much reflection there. I like the table.
What about some more objects and details?

Hi All,

tnx for your comments.

My only crit is that your couches and rug seem to have a reflection pass on them

It's actually not a reflection, it's an overpainting (a kind of paint effect)

Here is the original image:

hi:)

I like both the image, the first image is like a snapshot of a dream, I like the effect, and it's the scene for the competition, really nice for me:)

flawless image, i´m sure you have said this on another post, but what are you rendering on? Max, Maya, XSI, Standalone? congrats, it would be good to see some other details.

Hi all,

Tnx for your kind words.

Here is some more info.
Pretty much everything in this render (or our workflow) is straight out of the box. I use max9, daylight system only (with correct orientation), log. exposure, photometric lights with IES for spotlights (physical correct values), standard A+D materials... nothing fancy really... Everything was rendered in one pass.
The displacement is just a cellular map. First I rendered the image saving photon- and FGmaps, next I re-used these for the displacement rendering (read only mode for FG).

The overpaint was done in photoshop.

Wow!
That's one of the best and closest to reality mr-interiors I've ever seen!
It's just perfect!

PS: What do you mean with "photometric lights with IES for spotlights (physical correct values)", because I can't see any additional lights

"photometric lights with IES for spotlights (physical correct values)"

The spotlights in the ceiling have lights in them that fill the scene a bit (it's very very soft, yet noticable). I didn't 'turn' the lighting fixtures themselves on, as I did not want 'glares' or 'glows' around them.

Thats what I love about a site entirely for mental ray. There's no need to ask if its VRay or Maxwell. We already know its mental ray.

Great work. Very inspiring.

hi Nisus thats very realistic.
But please tell us what kindof methode do you use.
1. the methode with Sunlight and arealights on the window.
or ,
2. Only with the sunlight

excluding the spots of this question.

Regards Seeda.

Hi Seeda,

I used only a daylight system in this image. I did try to get a similair effect with area lights, but I cancelled the test because the daylight system was rendered out faster ,-))

I've made a setup with areas too, but never rendered it in high resolution...

Anyway, for most interiors I use the daylight only, but with VERY CAREFUL setting of the Sun Photons Radius ,-)
Setting this one right is the clue to a lower amount of photons ,-)

Very surprisingly, I've noticed that most people find this interior realistic. I don't know why, but I've never find ANY of my interiors realistic in any way (except the blue hall done in max 6)... I wonder where this discrepancy comes from...

fantastic blurry effect on seats. nice flooring and light is good, maybe a bit brighter in back of the scen, but altough it's fantastic.
