i ma trying to model an old house.
walls and corners are not straight, so i beveled the edges of a high poly cube.
a simple directional light is the lighting the ''box'' from the outside
when i render from the inside, i have light spiling threw the beveled edges.

Is that your starting geometry? Will be a pain to work with if you start that detailed. You are probably better off adding boards at the top and bottom if you want to make a house. They also fix the light spilling. A beveled box looks more like tupperware than a house.

Ah. Old as in clay. I thought old as in some ghosthouse-like thing made of wood.

If you are sculpting with mudbox/zbrush you still don't need that detailed geometry. Just adds to your render time. If you are sculpting with maya you should try mudbox/zbrush. It is wicked. :)
