maya 7.01 issues , "cannot find procedure uiRes"

"cannot find procedure uiRes pops up everytime i
try to render anything!

even uninstalled maya , and then reinstalled it but
still the same problem

any clues?

i have both maya 8.5 and 7.01 on the same computer,
shouldnt be an issue but still.

Hey Chris,

I hope it's not too late - I think I may have figured out your problem. I too got the same error message with the problem still persisting even after re-installing Maya. Since I was running both versions without problems before, I figured the culprit might be a third-party plugin or something...

In my case (I also had 8.5 and 7.01 on the same system) the problem was due to Gelato. To correct this problem remove all references to Gelato (you'll find it listed as "MANGO" in the Environment variables (My Computer > Advanced > Environment Variables).

In particular, look for entries in MAYA_PLUG_IN, MAYA_SCRIPTS and XBMLANGPATH. The problem is that, while variables set here are global for all versions of Maya installed on the system, what you really want is for these variables to have effect only for Maya 8.5 - the solution is to move them into the Maya.env file located under "My Documents\Maya\Maya\8.5" It is probably a good idea to do this as a general policy in order to customize the environment per version.

After having done this, Maya 7.0.1 is back to behaving as expected.
