glossy leather vs. flat leather mat

I have a little stuff here making a leather material, glossy and flat, its just only a study of mine, A&D material.

wanna hear some comments and suggestion,
what do you think?:)

Hey, just a little knowledge on leather to share here... I play with leather in free time...

It will definitely looks better with a good bump map, as it looks like PVC leather for the glossyleather so far.

Perhaps youmight wanna check out more about leather as there are simply alot of varieties for leather type.

Check out on:

-Chrome tan
-vegetarian tan
-suede

Chrome tan is more referred as the 'glossy' leather, the texture on the surface differs in different portion of the animal parts or type of animal, so sometimes you may get this type of leather with rough and bumpy surface, or slightly smaller bumps, though rough surface(it still feels smooth).

Vegetarian tan is mainly 'mat' on surface, mostly used to make cowboy leather boots, wallets, backing for briefcase or bags, and nonetheless, horse saddle. Often, the surface of this type of leather will be treated to give it a glossy appearance.

Suede as we know, are rough and definitely low specularity and glossiness... i think just applying some basic map such as speckle onto the bump, and a tweak of specularity shall help.

My apology that I can't give you any comment on the technical sides, but I hope these onformations will definitely makes you understand more about leather.

I wonder about one thing... For a reflectivity of 0.5, you use a fast interpolation method, which is probably ok. I don't get why for MORE reflection (0.95) you would use a 'less correct' way of FG+Highlight. I would use the fast interpolation too, or no interpolation at all.
