I've posted an architectural material collection on my blog. The collection is built around the architectural bitmaps that ship with 3dsmax.

80 materials, all A&D.

looks amazing! on a selfish level, is there any way of saving that file in a ascii format? i'd be interested in porting those settings to maya, but its a binary file format... not highly readable...

hi,

i hope for you, that jeff save the template to a mi-file, then can you use it for Maya, XSI, or what for ever.

i hope for you, that jeff save the template to a mi-file, then can you use it for Maya, XSI, or what for ever.Cool, so all I need to do is load all the materials into one scene and render it out into a .mi file? I can do that.

However, there's still going to be an issue with the actual maps. I can't distribute them since the collection ships with 3dsmax.

BUT, I'm not sure if the architectural bitmap collection is available as a download with the trial version of 3dsmax...If so, then that would be a way people could download the required maps. ;)

I still wonder why no industrious person with MaxScript and MEL skills havn't written a little MaxScript that can import/export A&D parameters to some, say, XML file, and a MEL script that does the same.

I would if I had time, but I really really do not.

Just wondering if you were ever able to save the template as an mi file.Oops, sorry...afraid this fell off my radar. Anywho, I just created the .mi file (huge 41mb file!)...I zipped the file and placed it here:
http://pixelperfectgraphics.biz/Downloads/architectural_materials.zip

Let me know once you download the file so I can remove it from my server.

I really admire your contributions to us MR users. But Jeff, pardon my ignorance, where should we exactly put that MI file?

where should we exactly put that MI file?I have no idea how to load that file in Maya (I'm not familiar enough with Maya to say). You may want to ask over in the Maya forum. I was only supplying that file at the request of some of the Maya users earlier in this thread that wanted to see if it would load. I'm not even sure if it did.

I guess it can't be done then! Unless you type in the settings manually of course.
