I recently discovered after rendering in MR, that my fur on an animated object "swims" frame to frame as the object moves and deforms. I read on another forum that this happens when ou have a skinned character that is smoothed, For whatever reason they did not know why.

So I'm just curious if anybody out there know anything about this and if there is a way to bypass this? My only option right now is to not smooth my character when I render him.

note:(i would render him in regular Maya Software to solve the problem, but that is a whole another issue that I won't get into at this time.)

thanks :P

that' s because of the smooth UV if you have a polygon object. Your map move during your animation.

Usually we make a base NURBS with the skinned poly oject and we wrap it with the proxy object. I know this is a painful method but it works.

I don t remenber this kind of trouble, but you can may be do one render for only fur then composite with the smooth version?
