I heard about the P_mega TK shaders but does anyone have a tutorial about this shader pack and how it works?
Especially the buffer...

not...but if you conect a sss shader or dispersion shader to color...yes ,it done :D puppet explains how to do it in maya in the web

:p sorry...I refer to the doc files included in the shader pack...in these docs explains how to conect mi_fastsss shader to megatk and use it as a pass:)

Hey but SSS mats in Max do not work with other shaders like Material to Shader!

sss works but these shaders are hidden...you must edit subsurface.mi in the folder \Autodesk\3ds Max 9\mentalray\shaders_standard\include , you must remove the "hidden" in the shaders that you want unhide

But the fast shader no back scattering!!!!! :confused:
Pls help I am literally TEARING MY HAIR AND CHIPPING MY FINGERNAILS OFF............. My 3ds max mental ray now has completely gone crazy

fast sss scatters back surface :) look this screen capture... an if you check "show only scattering" you have only the sss component of the shader...you can try also a third part shader,like diffusion :)

Explain this???? perhaps? This is a teapot with a single omni light..... with the same materials used.

yes...i try it and only the physical shader has true back scatter without direct light...and third part shader don´t scatter too...physical shader is your choice...but is horrible to control :confused:
I´ll test with more shaders to find better solution
edit:difussion works too with backscattering ,it´s a GREAT sss shader and easier to use than physical shader, you can dowload here http://www.maxplugins.de/mentalray.php?range=Material&sort=Name

new question: when I use p_megatk shader and if I open the material tree in the sme ,max crash...Is it a know bug of megatk and sme?
