hi guys
this is my 1st post as i am a newbie tou your site.
i am new to 3ds max and mental ray so be easy on me,my problem is interior shots.Somehow do i get artifacts on walls floors and glossy faces.I use A&D materials and a daylight system with no additional lights.My problems are:
1.when i add a sky portal my render times go up drastically
2. my pc specs are I7 quad core 4gb ram wit 1gb graphics and still my renders goes up 2 a hour 2 complete......plz help.....desperate.:mad:

The graininess on the glossy materials can be solved by using higher sampling values.
I have the same computer specs. :)

Also, if you are concerned with the time it takes to render, then lower the sampling of the Sky Portals. However, increase the samples per pixel value to 1 over 16 on the Rendering Pane, under Renderer. On the metals, make sure they have a sampling of 16 or something like that in the reflective slot. Hope that helps your render times. Also, how large is the rendering you are trying to render at?
