Hello everyone,
I've came up across this method while updating the MR utility (http://www.mymentalray.com/forum/showpost.php?p=14596&postcount=1). It's a lighting system that work well with exterior scenes that has animated objects, and replaces the use of Final Gather.

I hope you find it useful,

Hello friends......well I am going to work on a scene which will have a camera animation. Well the scene is like this that the camera will go from an exterior environment to a interior environment into a train. I am doing the exterior scene lighting with the help of hdri...but I am not sure how to do the interior lighting in such kind of animated scene........ should I go for normal procedure like placing lights in the doors & windows or is there any other way to deal with it which could minimize the render time.......I am also very much concerned abt the jitters...How can remove those jitters as I am working first time on such type scene.

Hey Peyote,
To start with, I think you should open a new thread for this question, since it's not directly related to the topic.
With that said, I went through a similar animation that went from exterior to interior and onto the train platform and into the train (Hmmm...VERY similar, are you working on 68th Street subway station in NYC?) and found that in order to save some render time I've attenuated all the interior lights (not sun or sky). I set them to a range that makes sense for the particular light. This way when calculating FG, the lights that are not within range will not be taken into account. This little tip also improves the shadow accuracy. You get better quality FG and shorter render times; something that rarely happens.
You should also incrementally calculate FG every 15th-30th frame and freeze it for the final render.
If you have many lights in the scene, you should decrease the shadow sampling. Find a good value that looks good enough when running the animation. Some testing required.
Try using 'Motion Blur' in the 'Effects' panel. Select all your objects and in 'Object Properties' set motion blur to 'Image'. This helps with the smoothing of the animation like specks and some imperfection in the reflections ;-)
I find that AA 1-4 is good enough.
I'm not sure what you mean by Jitter? Maybe flicker?
Hope this helps,
Dani
