I'm rendering a sea scene and I'm using caustic photons emitted from multiple spotlights. My water mesh is a RealWave mesh imported from RealFlow 4.0. Mental Ray won't render my scene if I add motion blur. I've tried adjusting my Memory Limit settings and changed to LargeBSP. I'm using Maya 8.0 (64-bit) on an Dual Opteron machine with 4GB of RAM. It doesn't seem to me like this should be causing my renders to fail. I'm not getting any errors, but my render just holds at 0 percent. I just recently overcame the same issue with renders freezing in the same manner. I had set one of my spots to be an area light in the Mental Ray attributes. Removing this option fixed that. Any ideas why the Motion blur could be killing my render?
