Here's a problem of mine.
I just downloaded a sky picture from cgtextures and merged the different exposure into a HDRI file in Photoshop
Then I put it in HDRI and Final gather.
But the highlight in the sky map is not showing...
anyone can help?

But it works with a real HDRI file from the default folder. Same material settings.
Here's my result with another HDRI from default max.

every HDR has different Lighting-info in itself, go in the settings of the HDR when importing one in max before you light with it and set it up correctly with the black / white value etc

+1 :)
When you open the dialog to choose your HDR file, you have an option on the left (usually) : "Setup".
Open it, this is where you can set your HDRI.
Basically, you can place the black point (red line) on the left of the curve, and the white point on its right, in order to cover the whole image datas.
Then, be sure to choose "32 bits" and uncheck "Def. Exposure".
To control the amount of lighting in the scene, make an instance of the bitmap in the Material Editor (you have to do it anyway, to set your bitmap on "Spherical" environment). Then you can control the lighting with the parameter "Output Amount" in "Output" tab. ;)

shimrod just explained it ;)
ps: you can't use 2 different HDR's with their own lighting conditions max only supports one way so make sure the HDR's are configuered correcly in PS or whatever
