Hi,
Is there any particular settings for render displacement maps ?

Example I have a field of grass and I'd like the grass
in the fore ground to be displaced grass.
Now I can never get Mental Ray to stop flushing the cache.
It takes a hell of a long time soon as that starts.
I've tried changing the BSP to Grid, thinking that might work better for displacement since the detail is nearly covering the whole image. I've tried adjusting the memory used.
Switched conserved Memory on and off.
I'm sure 64bit Windows with gigs of RAM would help.
I'm using 2gig with the 3gig switch, 32bit Windows XP.
So is there anyway to render a field of grass ?
Displacement settings are
view dependent
Pixel 0.1 or 0.2
and 16k

Does anyone have any info on Displacement mapping ?
I'm sure I cannot be the only one having these problems ?

He's always got helpfull info.

Did you achieve good results with the grass displacement?
