hi there...

i made a scene....

and the window (BOX ,NOT PLANE) with the glass shader, it´s not generating GI in the room...and others shaders are not generating shadows in the room too....because the glass shader don´t work very well....i don´t know...

what´s the "right" glass shader to mr?

thanks!

SORRY IT´S FOR 3DS MAX 9!!!

Are you raytracing the light the photons are comming from? If you are what is your ray depth limit for the light? Also in the render settings what are you using for your refraction settings, and what is your photons max trace depth?

I have the same problem. Shadows don't work when I put a mia_material_roundc.

I'm stupid. I have found the problem finally.

In the render stats of the objets, we must remove "cast shadows". ^^

If you uncheck cast shadows your windows cast no shadows at all. What you want to do is apply a shadow shader to your object. You can use mental ray's standard shadow shader, or if using a mia_material on your object just plug the same shader into the shadow shader slot. Shadows should also be set to segmented in your mental ray render globals.

Another method is using caustics. Then you need a photon shader on your material. This will produce the best results, but at increased render times.

@ Marco Tomaselli,

Did you resolve the problem?
Could you please post a render to see whats wrong? in case you steel having the problem and maybe a screen shot from your shader?
