Hey guys, I am not new to 3D but I am new to Maya. Can you someone share with me some tips on setting up studio lighting within Maya. You dont have to go into great detail ..
A little push/guidance in the right direction would be well appreciated.
Thank you.

hello, well it depends on medium that you are shooting, but my advice is to look at existing photography and try to mimic some lighting senarios. For packshots nice big area lights will give u classic softbox reflections, u can also add further control over your highlgihts by mapping your light colour with vingnettes, looking into reflections of chromes can give alot away on position of lights in classic photography. for cars maybe more indirect lighting is needed, boucing lights off an environment, using quadratic decay will help if u are boucing light at accute angles and want more realistic falloff. try lighting your environment to get pleasing reflections in the body work of car. these are only sugestions and not gosple, just play around and use photographic reference. that my 2 p

Good day! Always remember 3-point lighting. Using spots, point, and area lights. For some studio looks using final gather with no lights but with solids, shaded white with large incandescence or ambient color values will fake diffuse. Also, don't forget the camera environment color along with final gather.
Try it, it's cool!

I wonder if there is a kit for Maya like the Slik kit for Modo?
