I've created some blog entries that describe my progress developing realistic shaders for different human parts. The project includes modeling of all the parts, and the creation of a full female model.
I shall not post the female until I am happy with the individual shaders and sections, of which I believe it's better to concentrate on individually. I'll rename the thread once it evolves further.
Here are some pictures of the eye shader, you can read more on it's creation in my blog.
I'll update this first post with image updates, but continue to discuss and post in the thread.

Crazy ! You go far in the details level... The description of the eye on your blog is just amazing. :)

Hair look great, especially on the second render.
Did you work with splines to create the eyelashes ?

I wish you to be successful like that in the next steps. Have you an idea about how long time you'll need to achieve this projet ?

The blonde hair is just the best CG hair i've seen, great work dude!

Thankyou both very much.
Shimrod: I'm glad you found the blog entries interesting, I'll update further in future.

For the eyelashes, I worked with 4 spline guides from a subsection of the eyesocket(skin) geometry. Multi strand and clump allowed me to achieve the eyelash look.

To complete the whole project? It's hard to say with accuracy but I plan to complete the first phase by the end of next month as I have many other projects running in tandem. It's important each element is at a quality level i'm happy with before continuing.

Thanks for the kind words Glacierise!

Looks quite nice, I'll love to go and read through that sometime soon and look forward to seeing some more progress. I too am interested in doing some hyper real modeling/texturing/rendering - and am curious about the subject.

are you planning a blog update on the hair? i'm curious as what approach you took--the renders look great.
