Things that aren't that obvious and could have saved you time had you known them.

I'll start us off, Depth of Field (mr) doesn't work with mr sky, to achieve good results use a regular skylight, check "Use Scene Environment" in the skylight rollout and then set your environment to be the mr physical sky shader.

Yeah thats really stupid, Mr sky not working with MR Depth of Field !!. Have you log it as a bug to Autodesk ?

I just tried your work around and I couldn't get it to work.

I grab a skylight from the light panel,
checked the use enviroment,
in the enviroment panel selected the mr Physical sky.
Doesn't work for me.
When inside a room the walls disappear.

cheers

hi,

another workflow is, when you use a sphere for the enviroment and put the physical_sky shader in mr-material-> surface. So you donīt need the max skylight. When you want a different background as the mr_physical_sky, take a raytype shader.

for examble: raytype shader in mr-material->surface
eye => new_background (tga,tiff ...)
fg => mr_physical_sky

Aaah yes I keep forgetting about raytype shaders in Max.
I use to use them all time in XSI.
Damn I miss node based material editor :(

Thanks Hotchip

This is a known (and fixed in the recent update) issue, the exact workaround needed is on my mentalraytips.blogspot.com (http://mentalraytips.blogspot.com) blg

Hi Zap,

Does your script also works the other way around, say converting VRay-mat into A+D?
