map file

Hi here's my problem ;)

I'm trying to make .map file

1)imgcvt acme.tif acme.sgi
2)imf_copy -r -p acme.sgi acme.map

But when I replace my file acme.tif by acme.map in maya this error message appears:

acme: unrecognized file format, not an image file //


Got an idea?

I think it's OK, because Maya did not regconize that format. You use that file format when rendering with Mentalray. Mentalray can read that type of file format.:)

You mean map file just work in batch render not in render view?

No, map files work both in batch and in render view. Hain3d maybe misunderstood something...I hope you're using map files with MR not with Maya Software, right?
